The "Digital Irish Lighthouse Experience" gives users the possibility to visually explore the Irish Lighthouses and learn about lighthouse technique and the rich history of Irish lighthouses.This way especially young people will better be able that to appreciate the huge effort that was necessary to make Irish coast safe for ships before the advent of computer technology.

To bring this experience to viewers, I have chosen a 3D exploration environment. All the models were created using 3DsMax.

A particular focus of this project has been to use only plug-in free technology and open web standards like HTML5, CSS and Javascript. The Fastnet 3D model is incorporated using the X3DOM framework made available by the Fraunhofer Institute.
